On thorntree
So thorntree has closed, maybe temporarily, maybe not.
I guess I half expected it to happen, and that was one of the reasons I started this site. Before I only posted trip reports on thorntree, but I half remember past problems, so decided it would be best to have a backup.
What of alternatives to thorntree? Some are listed on the right. Tripadvisor I have used, but decided to stop posting. Bootsnall I found a little inward looking. Indiamike is fine, but only for India.
What’s next? Well, if it is closed, I have a lot more time on my hands. Should do my work instead, but who wants to do that…
Update: it came back, and some things have changed, and it has been sold to an American, but basic functionality is still there, and it’s better than others, so for the moment I stay.
